Residential Tile Installation

Floors, backsplashes, entryways, and living spaces. Tile work for Hill Country homes that holds up over time and looks the way you planned it.

What Residential Tile Work Actually Involves

A kitchen backsplash looks simple until you look closely at the grout joints. A large-format floor tile in an entry hall seems straightforward until you account for the floor's flatness, the weight of the tile, and the expansion joints that need to be placed at the right intervals. Residential tile installation is detailed work, and the details compound.

We handle the full scope: substrate assessment, leveling compound where needed, backer board installation in wet-adjacent areas, layout planning to avoid awkward cuts at doorways and focal walls, mortar selection matched to the tile size and weight, and grout work that finishes cleanly. Large-format tiles (anything over 15 inches on a side) require a specific trowel notch size and back-buttering technique to achieve full mortar coverage. We do not skip that step.

For kitchen backsplash work, we protect countertops and appliances throughout. For floor installations, we give you clear guidance on when to walk on the surface and when it is ready for furniture.

Our Process for Residential Jobs

1

Site Visit and Estimate

We measure the space, check the substrate condition, and note any prep work required. You receive a written estimate before any work begins.

2

Substrate and Layout Prep

We level the surface as needed, install backer board where required, and snap layout lines. The starting point for the tile pattern is planned to center visual weight in the room.

3

Setting and Grouting

Tiles are set with the correct trowel size for the format, spaced with uniform spacers, and allowed to cure fully before grouting. Grout is applied, tooled, and cleaned in stages.

4

Final Walk-Through

We inspect the finished surface with you, address any edge conditions or transitions, and explain care and sealing recommendations before we leave.
