Marble Bath with Clawfoot Tub in Boerne
This Boerne bathroom renovation centered on a full wall tile installation behind a freestanding clawfoot tub. The wall received large-format white marble-look porcelain tile from floor to ceiling, creating a clean backdrop for the chrome fixtures and towel hardware. The tile was installed in a horizontal stack bond pattern, with all tiles oriented the same direction to keep the subtle veining consistent across the full height of the wall.
Because this wall sits adjacent to a bathing area, we installed cement backer board behind the tile and applied a vapor-retarding membrane at the lower wall zone near the tub. The grout joints were kept tight at 1/8 inch and sealed after cure to resist moisture penetration in the splash zone.

What We Did
- Removed existing wall finish and installed cement backer board with vapor membrane at the lower wall zone
- Established a level horizontal reference line and planned tile courses to avoid small cuts at the ceiling line
- Set tiles floor to ceiling using white polymer thinset with full back-buttering
- Grouted with tight-joint grout in a warm white tone and applied penetrating sealer after full cure
A floor-to-ceiling tile wall like this one transforms a bathroom from functional to genuinely considered.
